All students will be required to submit a signed consent form and current insurance information from a parent or legal guardian. Consent forms may be picked up at West Plains High School in the downstairs office, at No. 3 Parkway Shopping Center, or at OMC Rehabilitation Services located on the second floor of the Shaw Medical Building at 1111 Kentucky Avenue.

Students should arrive according to the first letter of their last name.

Camp for Boys and Girls in Grades 9-12 will be 1:00-4:00pm.

The cost of the camp is $20. Forms can be picked up in the downstairs office of the high school.

Congratulations to Ron Teat and the Valley View Lady Blazers (Lady Zizzer Soccer Classic participants) for reaching the Arkansas Class 4A State Final. They will play Pulaski Academy on Friday at 2:00pm at the University of Arkansas for the State Championship. Good Luck Lady Blazers!

Congratulations to Debbie Atkinson and the Mountain Home Lady Bombers (Lady Zizzer Soccer Classic participants) for reaching the Arkansas Class 6A State Final. They will play Russellville on Saturday at 10:00am at the University of Arkansas for the State Championship. Good Luck Lady Bombers!

In the second half, West Plains changed formations in order to try to create more offensive opportunities. The best scoring chance for the Lady Zizzers came on a corner kick that Carly Shannon headed toward goal, but the Lebanon keeper was able to control it. The new formation left the Lady Zizzers more vulnerable on defense. Lebanon capitalized with a goal in the 8th minute of the half that went over the head of Keeper Jada Hansmann. Lebanon struck again in the 16th minute of the half with a shot to the far corner to make it 3-0. The Yellow Jackets added one more goal with just over two minutes remaining for the final score of 4-0. West Plains did some good things offensively, trying to do the right things, but we were just a little slow with the execution.

The loss ends the season for West Plains. We say Good Bye to 4 Seniors: Micah Adcock, Kimmie Callahan, Sammi Phegley, and Kelsey Roe. Thanks for your hard work girls, we will miss you.

In the JV game, Joplin got the win on a Penalty Kick Eleven minutes into the second half. Overall it was a good effort for West Plains even though they couldn’t get on the scoreboard. Next up for the Lady Zizzers is a District game on Saturday against the Lebanon Yellow Jackets. That game will be played at Camdenton and will start at 1:00pm.

The effort in the second half was a little better, even though it wasn’t reflected on the scoreboard. Parkview scored two goals in the first ten minutes of the half including one that took a big bounce over the head of Lady Zizzer Keeper Saralyn Glascock. West Plains moved the ball some at times, but wasn’t able to create a lot of offensive pressure. Parkview added two goals in the last five minutes, one of which was an own goal off the foot of a West Plains defender. The final score was 6-0.

In the JV game, West Plains fell 6-1 to Parkview. The Vikings scored in the 4th, 19th, and 23rd minutes before the Lady Zizzers struck back. In the 25th minute, Ashley Smith dribbled into the right side of the box and sent a shot back to her left and in the goal to cut the lead to 3-1. That’s as close as West Plains would get though. Parkview increased their lead to 4-1 with goal in the 29th minute. In the second half, Parkview would score two more, one coming in the 23rd minute and the other in the 32nd minute of the half.

Next up for West Plains will be the last regular season games of the year on Thursday. The opponent will be the Joplin Eagles. The Varsity game will kickoff at 4:00pm in West Plains with the JV to follow. The Lady Zizzers will begin District play on Saturday at 1:00pm in Camdenton against Lebanon.

West Plains did some good things in the first half, but Catholic’s speed and ball movement caused some problems. In the second half, Catholic added two more goals for a final score of 5-1. The Lady Zizzers played hard, but had some inconsistencies in their defensive play. Although, the defense did thwart a number of Catholic offensive opportunities. Sammi Phegley made 20 Saves in goal, including several very tough, acrobatic saves. Communication is an area that needs to get better.

In the JV game, Catholic prevailed 5-0. The first goal came just 45 seconds into the match as the Lady Zizzers left the near post open. Catholic made it 2-0 in the 10th minute. The halftime score would be 2-0. West Plains didn’t play as well as they did against Branson on Friday. The second half saw Catholic add to their lead with goals in the 3rd and 4th minutes. The Lady Zizzers were caught out of position defensively and they weren’t aggressive enough toward the ball. Catholic’s final goal came in the final minute of play as West Plains couldn’t clear a corner kick out of the box.

Next up will be games at Parkview on Tuesday. The Varsity game will begin at 4:30pm with the JV match to follow. The games will be played on the turf at JFK Stadium.
