The Zizzer Varsity soccer team fell in overtime to the Marshfield Bluejays on Monday. The Bluejays scored in the third minute as the Zizzers failed to mark up around the box. The Zizzers would tie the score on a goal from Logan Jeffery. In the second half, the Zizzers took a 2-1 lead when Seth Stiles converted a penalty kick. The Bluejays tied the game with just a couple of minutes to go in regulation as the Zizzers weren’t able to clear away a rebound and the Bluejays put it in the net. In overtime, the Bluejays scored off a free kick as the Zizzers couldn’t beat the Bluejay player to the ball and his shot found the goal. There was 60 minutes of good soccer from the Zizzers on both sides of the ball. We are getting closer to where we need to be, but we still have some work to do.

In the JV game, the teams battled to a 0-0 score at halftime. In the second half, the Zizzers took a 1-0 lead as a Zizzer shot was redirected into the goal by a Marshfield player. A few minutes later, Michael Howell scored to give the Zizzers a 2-0 lead. Philip Sheridan got the win and the shutout in goal.
