On Monday, the Greenwood Bluejays traveled to West Plains for a non-conference match against the Zizzers. The Bluejays struck early, getting a goal in the 2nd minute from Julius Walker. Despite a few chances for each team, the score would remain 1-0 at halftime. Greenwood stormed out of the gate and score quickly in the second half. It was Walker again with the goal. The Bluejays would add three more goals before the horn would sound. This was not a great performance from the Zizzers. Communication and teamwork were areas where we struggled in this game.

The JV played one 30 minute half. Greenwood got on the scoreboard first, but the Zizzers battled back. Michael Howell tied the game at 1-1 with a goal from inside the 18 yard box. Then with about 6 minutes remaining, Sean Allen crossed a ball to Ty Murray near the back post. Murray’s shot found the net to give the Zizzers a 2-1 victory. Philip Sheridan picked up the win in goal. It was a good effort by the JV and a nice way to start the season.
