The Zizzers traveled to Greenwood to face the Bluejays for the second time in four days. The Zizzers got on the scoreboard in the 5th minute as the Bluejays were called for a push in the box. Seth Stiles scored on the penalty kick for a 1-0 lead. The lead was short lived as the Zizzers did not play well in the first half. Greenwood sent a free kick into the box where a Bluejay tracked it down and crossed it to #24 whose shot went inside the post to tie the game at 1-1. In the 26th minute, A Bluejay cross into the box went off a Zizzer defender and into the goal for an own goal and gve the Bluejays a 2-1 lead. In the second half, the Zizzers came out hard and took charge of the game. The Bluejay keeper made a couple of nice saves. Then in the 26th minute of the half, the Zizzers earned anothe penalty kick. This time the Greenwood keeper made the save, but Alex Ugbah raced in and knocked the rebound into the goal to tie the game at 2-2. That’s how the game would stay through two overtime period. After 100 minutes of play, the game went to a penalty kick shootout. The Greenwood keeper made 3 saves on five shots. Mitchell Biggers was the only Zizzer to score as the final shot went over the goal. Sidney Jones made two saves and got his hands on two more, but they found their way into the net and the Bluejays won the shootout 2-1.

In a short JV half, the teams played 9 v 9. The Zizzers scored first on a shot by Nic Barraza. The Bluejays would come back and tie the game about 5 minutes later. With about 7 minutes to play, Greenwood scored to take the lead. The Bluejays held on for the 2-1 win.

Next up will be games at Glendale on Monday, Septmeber 29th. JV will start at 4:30pm followed by the Varsity game.
