The Zizzers traveled to Marshfield for a non-conference match against the Bluejays on Monday. Marshfield is off to a good start this season, already having beaten fellow Ozark Conference school, Camdenton 2-0. The Bluejays put some pressure on early and it paid off. In the 11th minute, Robert Cheeney fired a shot from the right side that went inside the near post to give the Bluejays a 1-0 lead. The Zizzers would tie the game in the 35th minute as Seth Stiles scored on a penalty kick after a Zizzer player was tripped inside the 18-yard box. The second half was back and forth, but neither team was able to find the net and the game headed to overtime. In the 2nd minute of overtime, Jake Garrett took a throw in and sent it into the box where Layne Sporleder headed it in for the game winner. It was not the Zizzers best game, but they were able to fight through their struggles and pull out a victory. Keep working hard boys!

In the JV game, the Zizzers got on the scoreboard quickly. Nic Barraza scored on a penalty kick in the 3rd minute after a Zizzer was pushed in the 18-yard box. Two minutes later, Barraza would score agin. This time he was assisted by Devin Girdley. After taking an early lead the Zizzers got into a kicking game that wasn’t as organized as we would like. In the second half, we were able to regroup and regain focus. Michael Howell scored in the 20th minute of the half on a cross from Tyler Ford. Then in the 31st minute of the half, Barraza scored his third of the game on a rebound of his own shot. 4-0 would be the final score. Zerek Johnson and Austin Jacobs shared the shutout in goal. Nice work!
