The Zizzers battled their second Class 3 District 11 opponent on the season when they hosted the Branson Pirates on Thursday. The Zizzers moved the ball well and created some chances. The Branson defense kept the Zizzers of fthe scoreboard for most of the first half. Finally in the 38th minute, Layne Sporleder’s pass found Seth Stiles going to goal and Stiles found the back of the net for a 1-0 lead. That is the same lead the Zizzers had at halftime against Waynesville on Tuesday before letting the game get away. Thursday was different. The Zizzers kept working hard and were able to add to their lead in the 6th minute of the second half. This time Stiles was on the giving end as his cross found Logan Jeffery at the back post. Jeffery used his body to direct the ball across the line for a 2-0 lead. About a minute later, Sporleder got his second goal in as many games as his shot found the net to give the Zizzers a 3-0 lead. The Zizzers continued to work together and held off a late Branson charge, clearing some dangerous balls out of the area to preserve the shutout. This was a good TEAM effort. The boys showed patience, creativity, and teamwork. Nice job!

In the JV game, Branson came out on top by a score of 3-0. The first half was a good match up and the Zizzers held tough. The game was 0-0 until the 34th minute when a Branson shot went off the Zizzer Keeper and into the goal. The Pirates would add two more goals in the second half as the Zizzers seemed to tire a bit. The goals came in the 10th and 35th minutes of the half.

Next up for the Zizzers will be games at Marshfield on Monday, September 14th. The JV will kickoff at 5:00pm followed by the Varsity.
