On a cool Tuesday evening, the West Plains Lady Zizzers faced the Kickapoo Chiefs. The Lady Zizzers did some of their best defensive work of the season in the first 15 minutes of the game. The girls did a good job of marking up and communicating. Kickapoo scored in the 9th minute of the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Lady Zizzers continued playing well. After Kickapoo scored it’s second goal, West Plains was losing a little of the focus that kept the defensive work strong. We started watching the ball more and leaving people open. Kickapoo would score 3 more goals before the half. Jada Hansmann played well in the goal, making several good saves to keep things close and the backs and midfielders played well at times. Even our forwards were involved in pressuring the ball. We just need to be able to do that for a full 80 minutes. In the second half, we didn’t mark up well and we lacked effective communication. Kickapoo scored 5 goals in the first 18 minutes of the half to end the game, 10-0.

In the JV game, Kickapoo came out on top 8-0. West Plains gave up 5 goals in the first half, playing well at times. In the second half, the effort was better. We defended better and played more together. Kickapoo scored 3 goals in the second half. Ripley Martin and McKenzie Burtrum made some good saves in goal.

Next up are games at Home on Thursday against Hillcrest. Varsity plays first at 4:30pm
