The Zizzers started out well on Tuesday night, moving the ball on the Chiefs end. In the fourth minute of play, things changed. A Kickapoo shot rebounded into the middle of the box and a Zizzer defender grabbed it with his hands. The Chiefs were awarded a Penalty Kick and they converted the opportunity. At that point we lost our focus a little bit and started to play too many balls straight ahead. Defensively we lost a little focus as well. Two minutes after the first goal, the Zizzers lost track of a Kickapoo player on the far side. When the ball was switched, it took too long to track him down, and he sent a ball into the middle of the box that another Chief knocked across the line for a 2-0 lead.

The Chiefs made the score 3-0 in the 10th minute as the Zizzers let a player split two defenders and send a shot past the keeper for a goal. Kickapoo would add one more goal in the half, with about 18 minutes to play for a 4-0 halftime lead.

The Zizzers played hard in the second half and tried to do some good things offensively, slowing things down at times and finding a good pass. Kickapoo scored in the 8th, 10th, 19th, and 25th minutes of the half to increase the lead to 8-0. The Zizzers were awarded a Penalty Kick after a handball against the Chiefs, but the Zizzers’ shot was wide and high. The Zizzers would score a few minutes later on a free kick from just outside the 18-yard box. Brodie Bender touched the ball for Ethan Hunt who put a shot just inside the post with 6 minutes to play. Kickapoo added a late goal with about a minute to play for a final score of 9-1. Despite the score, their were some things that the Zizzers can take from the game and learn from as we wrap up the regular season.

In the JV game, Kickapoo came out on top 7-0. The Zizzers gave up 6 goals in the first half as they weren’t aggressive going to the ball. In the second half, the effort improved. The Zizzers played hard and that made a big difference. The Chiefs would only score one goal in the second half.

Next up for the Zizzers will be Home games on Friday against Branson. The Varsity game will be played first and will kickoff at 4:00pm. The JV game will follow the Varsity game.
