On July 8, Missouri State University Goalkeeper Coach, Dave Stockton, will be coming to West Plains for a Goalkeeper Clinic. The clinic will be held at the West Plains Soccer Association Soccer Park at 1809 South Highway 63 in West Plains.

The clinic be held from 2:00pm until approximately 4:30pm and is for High School Goalkeepers. 7th and 8th Grade Goalkeepers may also be able to participate. Contact Coach Schmitt for more details or if you have any questions.

Dave will also be holding a Youth Goalkeeper/Coaches Clinic that evening as part of the West Plains Soccer Association Soccer Camp. All youth coaches are encouraged to attend and learn about the fundamentals of training goalkeepers. The clinic is free for coaches.

In addition to being the Goalkeeper Coach at Missouri State University in Springfield, Dave is also the Goalkeeper coach for the Springfield Soccer Club. Here is a little background information on Dave Stockton from the Springfield Soccer Club website:

David Stockton began coaching as a graduate assistant at Midwestern State University in 2004. While a graduate assistant Midwestern played in the NCAA National Finals in 2007. Stockton also played goalkeeper for MWSU from 2001 until 2004. While playing for Midwestern State University, Stockton held Lone Star Conference season and career records for fewest goals against average and shutouts. Stockton compiled a 35-9 record with 17 career shutout while playing in 47 matches between the posts. David competed in the NCAA National Tournament in 2002 and 2003. He led the 2003 squad to an NCAA Division II national quarterfinalist appearance recording a 15-4 record with nine shutouts. Stockton was also a member of the All-Midwest Region team in 2004.

Following his career at Midwestern State University David played three years of semi-professional soccer in Kelowna, British Columbia and Dallas, Texas. While playing in Canada David was chosen for the Pacific Coast Soccer League All-Star team in 2004.

David holds his United States Soccer Federation ā€œCā€ Coaching License.
