Former Zizzer Soccer standout, Stuart Ziegler, found out in late January that he would no longer be able to play soccer at Missouri Southern State University in Joplin. The school dropped it’s soccer program. Ziegler, a Freshman, played in 13 games and started 10 for the Lions last Fall, recording 1 Assist. With the news that Missouri Southern would no longer field a team, the recruiting process began again for Stuart.
The process led Stuart back to a place he had visited the year before, Buffalo, New York and Medaille College. Head Coach Dan Krzyzanowicz, who had recruited Stuart previously, showed an interest in bringing Stuart to New York. Coach K has a strong program at Medaille and sees Stuart as a player who can contribute to the team’s success. Medaille is coming off a 2008 season that saw them reach the NCAA Division III National Tournament where they lost 2-1 in Overtime to eventual National Champion Messiah College.
I think this will be a great fit for Stuart. He and Coach K have a relationship that dates back to soccer camp at Indiana University, so they are familiar with each other. In my conversations with Coach K, he comes across as a person who really cares about his players. Stuart will also be in an environment where he will be challenged and also be part of a team that has a chance to compete on a national level. Congratulations Stuart! We wish you the best of luck in New York.
