The Lady Zizzers didn’t play as aggressively as they have been in the first half against the Kickapoo Chiefs on Tuesday night. At halftime though, West Plains was only down 1-0. The goal came in the 16th minute, as McKenna Adams sent a high shot to the corner that Keeper Sammi Phegley could just get her fingertips on. The ball fell under the crossbar for a 1-0 lead. That was the only ball that Phegley allowed in during the half, despite facing 14 shots on goal. Phegley made a amazing save on a Penalty Kick late in the half, after the Lady Zizzers were whistled for a handball in the box. Kickapoo controlled the majority of the play throughout the game.

In the second half, West Plains came out more aggressively and challenging more balls in the air. The improved play helped to limit Kickapoo to 9 shots on goal in the half. The Chiefs were able to score in the 25th minute of the half. It was Adams again. Amanda Dominguez cross found Adams open inside the box. Adams shot found the back of the net from 15 yards out. 2-0 Chiefs. That would be all the scoring in the game. Despite the improved play in the second half, West Plains was never able to generate any dangerous chances. Despite the loss, the Lady Zizzers seem to be playing with a little more confidence even against a strong team like Kickapoo.

In JV action, Kickapoo won the game 4-0. The Chiefs scored in the 3rd, 10th, and 30th minutes of the first half. West Plains got caught watching the ball too much and leaving players unmarked. In the second half, the Lady Zizzers played better, keeping Kickapoo off the scoreboard until the 32nd minute of the half.

Next up for both teams will be games Thursday at Hillcrest and then games Friday at Rolla.
