Zizzers Drop A Pair To Parkview

The Zizzers traveled to Parkview on Tuesday for an Ozark Conference matchup. In the Varsity contest, West Plains looked a little slow out of the gate and Parkview capitalized. In the 16th minute, Jared Moore played a ball in to Tim Griffin, who beat a couple of defenders and shot one past the keeper for a l-0 Viking lead. Griffin made it 2-0 with just seconds remaining in the half as Matt Medley sent a ball into the box. Griffin dribbled across the face of the goal and then found the back of the net with his shot.

In the second half, the Zizzers had a better effort, but couldn’t put it all together. The first touch was off and everything seemed to be bouncing to the Vikings. In the 13th minute of the half, Jared Moore touched the ball away from Zizzer Keeper Anthony Holt and into the net for a 3-0 lead. Griffin would get the hattrick in the 28th minute when he converted a penalty kick after West Plains was whistled for a trip in the box. Tanner Bennett finished the scoring in the 33rd minute after receiving a through-ball from Justin Hansen.

The search for consistency marches on. After three good games at Camdenton over the weekend, this one was kind of a letdown. Hopefully the boys will bounce back on Thursday as they take on the Hillcrest Hornets in the first of 4 consecutive Home games.

In JV action, Parkview defeated the Zizzers 7-0 in a game that was shortened due to darkness. The Zizzers had a good effort, but got caught ball watching too much. Diving in on defense and not getting guys marked up around the box gave Parkview some good scoring opportunities and they took advantage of them. Parkview scored 5 goals in the first half and added 2 more in the second half. This was one of the better efforts for the JV. The execution wasn’t perfect, but the effort was there.
