Springfield Catholic came to town on Thursday and things started off well. The West Plains JV played a good first half. In about the 12th minute, Justyn Biggers sent a ball to Chris Polston who scored the first goal of the season for the JV and gave them a 1-0 lead. That’s how things would stand at halftime. The second half however, didn’t go quite as well. Catholic came out strong scoring goals in the 7th, 11th, and 16th minutes to capture a 3-1 lead. The Zizzers weren’t as strong defensively in the second half and Catholic capitalized on their opportunities.

In the Varsity game, Catholic Catholic proved too much for the Zizzers, netting 4 Goals in the first half, including two on Penalty Kicks. Catholic added 1 more goal in the second half to win the game 5-0. The Zizzers had moments where things were good, but couldn’t string enough of them together to mount much of an attack. Catholics ball movement kept the Zizzers running all night long. Catholic is a good team, coming off a victory last weekend over perennial state power Pembroke Hill of Kansas City. The Zizzers can hold their heads high as they continue to try to get better.

Next up for the Zizzers are games at Waynesville on Tuesday. JV first at 4:30pm.
