The Parkview Vikings came to town Tuesday for an Ozark Conference match. The Vikings won the previous meeting 5-1 in the Championship of the Parkview Viking Showdown on September 15. The Zizzers played well this evening as did the Vikings. The weather was great and both teams played a good game. The Zizzers created some chances, but struggled to find the back of the net. Parkviews Keeper mad a couple of nice saves including one on a free kick by Justin Scicluna.
In the 11th minute, Tim Griffin picked off a Zizzer back pass as two backs failed to communicate. Griffin went in alone on Zizzer Keeper Chris Saner and sent a shot just inside the far post for a 1-0 Vikings lead. The game would stay that way until the 66th minute. Morgen Holt found Jared Moore who fired a shot to the near post side, past a diving Chris Saner for a 2-0 Vikings lead. The Zizzers would get one back in the 80th minute on a Penalty Kick by Justin Scicluna after the Vikings were called for a trip in the box. The game would end with the Vikings winning 2-1. The Zizzers moved the ball well and created chances, but came up a little short in this one. The loss drops the Zizzers record to 9-6 and 2-4 in the Ozark Conference. Next up for the Varsity will be an Ozark Conference match at Hillcrest on Thursday.
In JV action, Parkview defeated the Zizzers 3-0. The JV played their best half of the season in the first half getting two great scoring chances. The Parkview Keeper saved a Penalty Kick by Dylan York and another Zizzer shot hit the crossbar. The Zizzers played alright in the second half, but not quite as well as the first half. Playing with only one substitute started taking its toll on the boys. With the loss, the JV record falls to 0-7 on the season. Up Next, both the JV and Varsity will travel to Sikeston for game son Saturday.
