Zizzers Get First OC Win

Led by Stuart Ziegler’s (Pictured against Tates Creek) 3 Goals, The West Plains Zizzers defeated the Lebanon Yellow Jackets Tuesday evening. The victory evens the Zizzers Ozark Conference record at 1-1.

Brice Hunt got things going early. Hunt received a pass from Justin Scicluna that put him in alone on the Lebanon Keeper. Brice’s shot to the corner gave West Plains a quick 1-0 lead. Things would stay that way until the 29th minute. Justin Scicluna’s hard shot from 15 yards hit off the Keeper’s hands and rolled over the goal line for a 2-0 lead. Two minutes later, Stuart Ziegler notched his first of three goals on the night by placing a ball into the corner of the goal. The Zizzers were able to limit Lebanon’s offense to 1 dangerous shot on goal in the first half. Shane Corl, filling in for Landon Perry was able to make the save. The halftime score would be 3-0.

Despite some good opportunities early, the Zizzers were held off the board by some nice saves from Lebanon Keeper Andy Westerman. Justin Scicluna finally opened the second half scoring with a goal in the 13th minute. Stuart Ziegler added his second of the game about a minute later. Anthony Holt relieved Shane Corl in goal and helped to preserve the shutout. Ziegler would finish the scoring in the 34th minute after making a run out of the midfield. Final score West Plains 6, Lebanon 0. The Zizzers improve their record to 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in the Ozark Conference. Lebanon falls to 0-2 in the Ozark Conference. Next up for the Zizzers is a trip to Poplar Bluff on Friday. JV will play first, followed by the Varsity.
