The Camdenton Lady Lakers played host to the Lady Zizzers in an Ozark Conference matchup on a beautiful Tuesday evening. The Lakers were able to generate more shots, but West Plains was able to hold their own defensively for most of the match. The one blemish came in the 23rd minute when an initial Laker shot was knocked down by Zizzer Keeper Jamie Brassfield, but Camdenton’s Megan Manzer was there to tap it in. That would prove to be all the scoring for the match. The Lady Zizzers were able to move the ball, at times connecting several passes together. The achilles heel for the Zizzers proved to be the attacking third of the field. Once in the final third, West Plains was unable to effectively put the ball in a good position to take many shots, thus limiting their scoring opportunities.
Overall the West Plains effort was a good one against a team that plays hard and fast. The Lady Zizzers record now stands at 6-10-0 on the season and 1-4-0 in the Ozark Conference. Next up is a game at 4:00pm Friday against Sikeston in the First Round of the Lady Zizzer Classic.
In JV action, Camdenton defeated West Plains 10-0, scoring 5 goals in the first half and getting the 10th goal with ten minutes left in the second half, ending the game. Despite the score, there were some good moments for West Plains, especially in the second half as the girls worked on playing together and moving the ball as a team. Next up for the JV will be a home game on Tuesday against the Kickapoo Chiefs.
