Thursday night the Zizzers came out passing the ball very well and createing numerous chances. Several shots went just wide some were saved by the keeper and some were blocked by defenders jumping in front of the ball. It wasn’t until the 18th minute that the Zizzers got on the board. Michael Harrington received a pass from Stuart Ziegler and touched it past the keeper to give the Zizzers a 1-0 lead. In the 32nd minute Justin Scicluna’s free kick, from just outside the box on the left side, went off a defender’s head and in the goal. 2-0 Zizzers. Stuart Ziegler’s 16 yard shot in the 37th minute gave the Zizzers a 3-0 halftime lead.

At this point, I had to leave. There wasn’t an emergency or anything. I had planned on leaving and informed the boys at practice Wednesday that I would be leaving around halftime. Coach Plocher was in charge of the game on Thursday and did a fine job. Coach Brown also came out, in case Coach Plocher needed anything. Me. I had a family commitment. With one kid playing soccer, one kid playing volleyball, and one kid a mighty mite cheerleader, it is sometimes difficult to see them all in action. I have made it to volleyball and soccer games already, but every game on the cheerleading schedule is on a night WPHS has a soccer game. So, tonight I left the soccer game to watch my daughter cheerlead.

In the second half, the Zizzers added 7 more goals. In the 42nd minute, Stuart Ziegler scored assisted by Brice Hunt. Chris Saner assisted Brice Hunt’s goal in the 48th minute. In the 53rd minute, Nathan Moore scored his first Varsity goal. Ziegler completed the Hattrick in the 54th minute. Cody Townsend put one in in the 57th minute. In the 62 minute Richard Jones assisted Justin Scicluna. The game ended in the 78th minute when Klay Norman scored his first Varsity goal.

The Zizzers improved their records to 13-2-2 overall and 4-2-1 in the Ozark Conference. The next games will be Saturday at home against Sikeston. The JV match will begin at 12:00pm with the Varsity to follow.
