Bulldogs Hand Zizzers First Loss

The Rolla Bulldogs defeated the Zizzers last night 2-1 in Overtime. The loss is the first of the season for the Zizzers who defeated Rolla 2-1 earlier this season. Rolla got on the board first. The Zizzers were called for a foul just outside the edge of the 18 yard box in the 11th minute. Kam Maddy headed in the free kick assisted by Andrew Chism to make it 1-0 Bulldogs. Rolla thought they had taken a 2-0 lead a little later as the ball was played over Zizzer Keeper Zach Auala’s head, but Rolla was called for a dangerous play.

In the second half, West Plains played better soccer and evened the score on a free kick of their own. This one coming in the 8th minute of the half. Chris Saner redirected Justin Scicluna’s kick to tie it at 1-1. Rolla again had what they thought was a goal, but again had one called back, this time for offsides. The score would remain tied through regulation. With just about 2 minutes remaining in regulation, Zizzer Richard Jones was given a Red Card by the official, causing the Zizzers to finish the game a player short.

In overtime, it took the Bulldogs 5 minutes to get the game winner. This goal came on a corner kick. Adam Daily put it in assisted by Brad Harris. 2-1 Bulldogs. With the win, Rolla improves to 4-4-3 and 2-2-0 in the Ozark Conference. West Plains drops to 10-1-1 and 3-1 in the Ozark Conference. Next up are games at Springfield Central today at 4:00pm JV first. The Games will be played at Cooper #1 in Springfield.

In JV action, the Zizzers fell to Rolla 4-0. They played a strong first half, yielding a single goal in the 23rd minute. The second half wasn’t as good the West Plains as Rolla scored in the 2nd, 5th, and 28th minutes. The JV record is now 1-3.
