Don’t Forget To Check Out The Photos

Don’t forget to check out the Zizzer Soccer Photos Link under the Friends Category. That is the Flickr site where Randy Hunt uploads his photos. There are I think 53 pictures from the games Tuesday at Camdenton. I also have a Flickr page (click here to view it) where most of the photos on this site are located. Eventually I hope to get with Randy and work it out so we can use some of his photos in the articles. That will have to wait until we both find some time to sit down and work things out. In the mean time, check out the photos. Thanks Randy. We enjoy your efforts.

Warrensburg defeats St. Pius

You can check out the article form the Warrensburg digitalburg on the Zizzers opponent for tomorrow night.

The Tigers have two more tough road tests ahead in this weekend’s Moberly Shootout. WHS will play West Plains Friday and Ozark Saturday.

“This weekend should be a great challenge for us,” Bax said. “We play the largest school in our class, West Plains, and a school from the larger class in Ozark. Neither team is in our district or conference, so while it will be a test for us, the outcomes are not as important as our level of play.”

Warrensburg faces West Plains at 7 p.m. Friday, then must rebound quickly to play Ozark at 9 a.m. Saturday.

Zizzers Defeat Camdenton in Overtime

At Camdenton, Zizzers 2 - Lakers 1 in OT.

The Zizzers started off the season with a 2-1 OT Victory. In the 4th minute of the game Zizzer Junior Midfielder, Justin Scicluna, sent a 30 yard bomb into the far corner of the net after beating a couple of Laker defenders off the dribble. The Lakers answered with a goal of their own in the 10th minute as Junior Midfielder, Josh Baldwin found the back of the net from near the edge of the 18 yard box after receiving a long pass. A few minutes later, Scicluna slipped as he planted to take a penalty kick and the ball rebounded off the crossbar and Junior Forward, Stuart Ziegler’s shot went over the goal.

The Zizzers seemed to pick up their play at this point rather than sulk about the missed opportunity. West Plains had the better of play most of the rest of the way, but couldn’t find the back of the net. Several goods chances were stopped by Camdenton Keeper Nate Lipps. Camdenton also had a couple of chances. One of those was a 30 yard shot that was head for the far upper corner when Zizzer Senior Keeper, Zach Auala, leaped up and grabbed it.

The score remained tied until the 6th minute of Overtime. The Lakers were called for a foul on the left flank. Zizzer Junior Back/Midfielder, Brice Hunt, played the free kick into the 18 yard Box where Junior Forward/Midfielder, Chris Saner, flicked the ball over to Ziegler who put the ball in the net from 8 yards out.

It was a good win for the Zizzers to start the season. The Varsity record is now: 1-0 Overall and 1-0 in the Ozark Conference.

In the JV game, Camdenton defeated West Plains 3-1. Camdenton got 2 first half goals (9th and 19th minutes) and a third goal in the 7th minute of the second half. The second half was a better half for the Zizzers as they possessed the ball a little more and created some scoring chances. The Zizzer Goal came in the 11th minute of the second half on a long direct Free Kick by Junior Forward, Shane Corl. The JV record is now: 0-1.

Next up for the Varsity is a match Friday vs Warrensburg at Moberly at 7:00pm.

New Design and Logo

I think I have finally settled on a design that I really like. The links line up much better in this design which was something that really bothered me with the previous design. I have also been able to change the color scheme so it now resembles our colors. I was also able to add the new school logo (with slight modifications to fit the black background) to the header. Let me know what you think of the new look.

Schedule Change for Parkview Tournament

There has been a slight change to the Parkview Tournament Schedule. The original information (From the Parkview Website) had us playing Fulton in the first round. There was a scheduling change because Ft. Osage dropped out of the tournament. No Varsity Team could be found to replace them, so the Parkview JV will be taking their place. This caused a shift in the schedule (presumably so Parkview doesn’t have to play their own JV Team) so the Parkview teams are on opposite sides of the bracket.

The schedule now has West Plains playing Neosho in the First Round and then either Fulton or Parkview JV in the Second Round. The Schedule Page has been updated to reflect the changes and a printable bracket is available by clicking here.

District Host Selected for 2006 & 2007

The Class 2 District 5 Hosts have been selected for 2006 & 2007 boys soccer District Tournaments. The host for the 2006 District Tournament will be Willard High School. The host for the 2007 District Tournament will be Bolivar High School. These schools are pretty much centrally located in the district. I hope the fields are nice, I have never been to either place, but I’m looking forward to it.

I found more photos of interest from that 2003 Slideshow. Many of this year’s Seniors were Freshmen in 2003. Have they changed any? well take a look and see. Click on this photo of Dustin Smith (I couldn’t find any good ones with the cast) and it will take you to the page with a set of 9 photos of several of this year’s Seniors. Have you misplaced your copy of the slideshow? Let me know if you need a copy and I can get one for you.
